We are saddened by the loss of Sharon (Sherry) Thomas, who passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Colorado on April 6, 2024, aged 75 years, after succumbing to the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her children, Ashley Garber and her husband Justin, Chris Thomas and his wife Traci, and grandchildren, Luke and Layne Thomas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Thomas.
Born Sharon Virginia Sager in Winchester, Virginia on July 24, 1948, the daughter of the late Walter and Grace Sager. One of seven siblings, she is survived by brothers, Steve, George, and Greg, and her sister Ruthie, and predeceased by her brother, Donald, and sister, Betty Lou. She grew up in Wardensville, West Virginia. Meeting Dick in high school, they wed July 3, 1966. Sherry enjoyed her best years while passionately involved with charity organizations such as Blue Ridge Hospice, Lights of Love, Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary, and The Follies, as well as volunteering with the Apple Blossom Festival. Her presence and generous support will be sorely missed by her many friends in the Winchester community.
Services will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel in Winchester with visitation scheduled for Monday April 15, 6pm to 8pm; a memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 16 at 11am with burial to immediately follow at Timber Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, located in High View, West Virginia, where she’ll be buried next to her parents and husband.
The family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made to further Alzheimer’s disease research.
