Sharon M. Askew
Sharon Marie (Adams) Askew, 64, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Askew was born in 1949 in Portsmouth, VA, the daughter of Norine E. Adams of Carrollton, VA and the late William E. Adams, Sr. She had been employed by Dominion Bank, F&M Bank and Marathon Bank. Most recently, she was a merchandise processor for Kohl’s Distribution Center until her retirement. She was a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA.
Mrs. Askew married William John Askew, III on May 31, 1969 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband and her mother are two children, William “Billy” Askew, IV and wife, Lyndi, and Shannon Anderson and husband, Bill, all of Stephens City, VA; four grandchildren, William J. Askew, V, Benjamin Askew, Sara Anderson, and Ryan Anderson; three sisters, Debra Bagley of Suffolk, VA, Jacqueline Hartwig of Carrollton, VA and Meredith Adams, also of Carrollton; two brothers, William E. Adams, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA and Timothy Adams of Carrollton, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Askew was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Adams and Charles Adams.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with her nephew, Pastor Christian Bagley officiating. Interment will be private in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Galen “Butch” Kuykendall, Donald Gladden, William “B.J.” Askew, V, Johnathan Bagley, Glenn Burdick, and Thomas Henry.
