Shannon W. Journell, 63 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.

Shannon was born in 1962 in Winchester, VA the son of the Betty Ann (Tavenner) Journell and the late Willard Wesley Journell, Sr. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1981.
Shannon worked as a carpenter for David L. Goode Construction and Valley Lumber. He loved the Redskins and was a fan of the NY Yankees and Notre Dame. He enjoyed woodworking, drawing and listening to his favorite band the Rolling Stones. Shannon enjoyed going to the Eagles Club with his family and friends, especially with his best friend of 26 years, Brian Kenney. Most especially, Shannon loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Ann; brothers, Willard W. Journell, Jr., James Lindsey Journell, Jeffrey Scott Journell (Lisa), Timothy Todd Journell, Dwight David Journell (Patsy), Eric Bruce Journell and Brian Kenney “#9” (Anita) all of Winchester; sister, Sonya Lee Journell (Susan) of Berryville and his canine companions, Archie, and Abigail.

In addition to his father, Shannon is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kim Journell and his canine companions, Joshua Jacob Journell and Mandi Jo.

A visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville. Officiating will be Rev. Sue Adams.

The pallbearers will be his brothers, Willard W. Journell, Jr., James Lindsey Journell, Jeffrey Scott Journell, Timothy Todd Journell, Dwight David Journell, Eric Bruce Journell and Brian Kenney.
