Seth Huston Rutherford, Jr., 94, of Maurertown, Virginia, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Rutherford was born in 1921, in Douglass, Kansas, the son of the late Frances and Seth Rutherford, Sr.  He was a technician in the Aircraft Industry where he was honored to assist NASA and Boeing with the Saturn Space Program.  Mr. Rutherford was a member of the Toms Brook United Methodist Church.  Seth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be forever remembered for his love of his family, faith and vegetable gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His wife, Ardeth LaVonne Calhoun Rutherford, whom he married on April 18, 1943, in Kansas, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his son, Gary Rutherford and his wife, Carolyn, of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Robyn Rutherford of Capon Bridge, West Virginia and Ryan Rutherford of Strasburg, Virginia; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister, LeElla May Easter, of Wichita, Kansas.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, at Toms Brook United Methodist Church with The Reverend Doctor Stan Thompson and The Reverend William Garber officiating.  Interment will be private.  A dinner will follow the service at the church.
