Kim, Joy, & Mary, You are in our thoughts and prayers. We are so sorry about your loss. Our hearts are aching for you all. Hopefully, knowing that so many of us care and send our sympathy will bring you some comfort in your time of grief. I remember so vividly one day when Scott came in to JWMS to visit Peggy after returning from one of his deployments. It was so good to see the handsome young Marine whom I had prayed for while he was serving in a foreign land. I had the opportunity to thank him in person for his sacrifice on the behalf of our country. We shared a very warm hug and I sensed his strength. You and your family also sacrificed during his time of military service. Thanks to all of you for carrying on so well during his absence. Now we are trusting God our Heavenly Father to bless each of you in very special ways and meet your every need. Love in Christ, Anita & Wendell Dick

I'm not sure if anyone will even see this...I was very saddened to hear that Scott has passed away. I would have loved to meet him. Scott and I share our biological mother...she passed away over 6 years ago. I am not sure what he was told of her, or if he ever knew anything about her. Anyway, I have his baby book, photos of him and his brother Richard as little children, his hospital bracelet from the day he was born, birth certificate, etc... I would really love to give them to his family if they are at all interested. I also have the same stuff for Richard and would love to give them to him also if he would like them. If anyone knows how I can contact his family to give them what belongs to them PLEASE email me. sarah.gounaris@gmail.com My sincere condolences to his family. He seems to be a great man. God bless.

Tom Bowers left a message on January 18, 2010:
I served with Scott Pierce when he was a corporal and sergeant of Marines and I was the Commanding Officer of Bravo Company, 4th CEB from 1994 to 1997. Pierce was that intense, eager, dedicated and motivated Marine that every commander wants in his unit. He was devoted to the Corps and the men who served under him. My heartfelt wishes are with his family. I am always saddened by the loss of a precious Marine life, but I know that heaven, the ultimate destination of us all, will be a better place with every Marine that enters it. I know this because the Marine Corps Hymm tells me so when it says, "If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines." And all Marines who know Scott Pierce know that he is on first watch, standing guard over the streets of Heaven. Scott Pierce lived to be a Marine and will always be a Marine. I consider it a true honor to have served alongside him. Semper Fi Marine Thomas E. Bowers Colonel USMC

Kim, Joy, Mary...and Scott's Mom and family! WOW! That's all I can say. I didn't get to spend a great deal of time with Scott, but he seemed to be serious, but still fun. He loved you, Kim so very much. I never got to see the relationship with the girls, but I read everything on here and I know he was a WONDERFUL dad. He was a professional in his career and I'm so proud of him and of you and your family. I'm soooo sorry and was also so shocked. If you ever need to talk or need something...call me...I'll do what I can. Dena (Sgt Maj John Price's wife) I have so much respect for you and your family. You really don't know...I've never said that before.

I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of getting to know him while a member of the Inspector Instructor Staff, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, in Roanoke from June 2000-January 2004. As a young Sergeant, I could always count on Staff Sergeant Pierce to help with anything I needed. I knew he would make a fine Warrant Officer when he submitted a package and, although I didn't get to see the full transition I know he lived by the tenets of honor, courage, and commitment. He was a very professional Marine and cared deeply for his fellow combat engineers and Marines. His is a signifcant loss to the Marine Corps family; we will be in mourning for some time.
