Sandra Kaye “Susie” Reel, age 65, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at her residence.
Sandra was born in 1951, the daughter of the late Jim J. and Mary P. Reel. She was a 1969 graduate of James Wood High School and received her nursing degree from Kings Daughters School of Nursing in Martinsburg, West Virginia as well as obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Sandra has dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, working for over 20 years in Public Health Services with Fairfax County and most recently with Blue Ridge Hospice at the inpatient care center. Sandra commonly known by her family as “Susie” can be forever remembered as a loving sister, aunt, avid gardener, prolific book reader, and an all-around one of a kind individual. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandra is survived by her sisters, Janice Schaff and husband, Eric of Winchester, Virginia and Cindi White and husband, Garland of Stephens City, Virginia; her brother, George Reel and wife, Linda of Middletown, Virginia; and two nephews, Jason Reel and Jimmy Hoover and his fiancé Sarah Todd; one niece, Meredith Reel; two great nieces, Tehya Herbaugh and Merci Henshey; one great nephew, Alexander “A.J.” Hoover as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Sandra’s family wishes to offer their most sincere gratitude for the care and comfort that was provided in their time of need from Blue Ridge Hospice and all of their caring staff.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 14, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home with Celebrant Joseph Dilleree officiating. Interment will be private.
