Samuel Thomas “Sammy” Triplett, Sr.
Samuel Thomas “Sammy” Triplett, Sr., 65, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away, Sunday, April 18, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center with his family by his side.
Sammy was born in 1944, in Winchester, the son of the late Asbury Cleveland “Bud” Triplett, Sr. and Emma Claire Triplett. He was the owner and operator of Triplett Drywall Service, then formed Bandit Racing in 1985. He was instrumental in bringing World Karting Association to Virginia. In 2003, Sammy was inducted into the World Karting Association Hall of Fame.
He married Joan E. Presgraves on August 15, 1977, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife of thirty-three years; are seven children, Jerry Wayne Triplett, Ritchie Mason Triplett, Karen Triplett Lewis, Dorothy “Miki” Michelle Edge, Samuel “Tommy” Thomas Triplett, Jr., Terry Harper, and Kenneth Loring Triplett; twelve grandchildren, John Triplett, TJ Harper, Russell Morrison, David Harper, Corey Triplett, Chris Edge, Alex Edge, Weslee Triplett, Danielle Lewis, Tyler Triplett, Samantha “Sami” Triplett and Garrett Triplett; two great granddaughters, Destiny Morrison and Madison Triplett; two sisters, Katherine Smalley and Lucille Williamson; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, A.C. Triplett, Jr., preceded him in death.
All services are private.
