Samuel P. Lyons, Sr.
Samuel Parker Lyons, Sr., age 73, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, December 25, 2009, in Evergreen Nursing Center.
Mr. Lyons was born in 1936, in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of the late Tony B. and Fannie L. Lyons. He was a former salesman for Chain of Command Uniforms. He was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, the Strasburg, VA Moose Club, the Strasburg, VA American Legion, the Marine Corp League of Winchester, Virginia, the Rouss Fire Company, and associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a veteran serving as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp.
Surviving are his children, Samuel P. Lyons, Jr., of Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Paula K. White, of Highview, West Virginia; five grandchildren; a sister, Peggy L. Speelman, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, and his “adopted” son, John W. Hawse, of Winchester, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Mount Hebron Cemetery Chapel with the F.O.P. Chaplain, John W. Hawse, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
