Samuel Franklin Baker
Samuel Franklin Baker, 79, of White Post, Virginia, passed away, Tuesday, December 29, 2009, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Baker was born in 1930 in Woodstock, Virginia, the son of the late Samuel Edward and Lela Virginia Baker. He retired in 1992, from Howard Shockey & Sons as a concrete finisher with 35 years of service.
Mr. Baker married Gloria Dean Henson on December 15, 1951 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving are eight children, David Baker of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Roger L. Baker and Bonnie Anderson, both of White Post, Shirley Dillion of Fairfax Pike, Kathy Echols, Wayne Allen Baker, Sr., Susan J. Baker, and Robert E. Baker, Sr., all of Winchester; twenty – four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; four sisters, Beatrice Lang, Martha Baker, and Ruth Baker, all of Berryville, and Mary Ball of Martinsburg; and a brother, John Baker of White Post. A son, Richard Allen Baker; a grandson, Gary Allen Dillion, Jr.; two brothers, Roy Baker and James Baker; and a sister, Francis Hauver, all preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Pastor Kenneth K. Patrick officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Robert Eugene Baker, Jr., Tyler Lee Baker, James Scott Baker, Robert Anderson, Wayne Allen Baker, Jr., and Bobby Baker.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
