Winchester National Cemetery

Sally A. McNemar, 89, passed away Monday Morning, April 20, 2015, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. 

 

         Sally was born June 10, 1925, in Jeffersonton, Virginia, the daughter of Thomas W. and Virginia D. Armstrong.  She was united in marriage to Leslie Erwin McNemar on July 11, 1954, in Culpeper, Virginia.  He preceded her in death on May 17, 1993.  They were married for 39 blissful years.

 

         Sally is survived by her children, Todd McNemar (Dee) of Winchester, VA and Melissa Walker (Gene) of Westminster, MD; a step-daughter, Carolyn Powers (Tod) of Bluffton, SC; four grandchildren, Megan Donadio (Landon) of Hanover, PA, Lindsay Walker of Bluffton, SC, Emily McNemar and McKenzie McNemar of Winchester, VA; and one brother, Dr. Thomas Armstrong of Culpeper, VA.

 

         Sally was an employee of Shawnee Springs Nursing Home in Winchester, Virginia, for over 40 years.

 

         A memorial service will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Friday, April 24, at 2:00 PM.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.  Interment will be private.

 

         In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22612.
