Sallie Winslow Cummings Pusey, 87, of Winchester, Virginia died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in her home.

Mrs. Pusey was born in 1925 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Martin J. and Sallie H. Cummings. She was a graduate of Larsen Junior College in Whitneyville, Connecticut. Mrs. Pusey was an Executive Secretary for the Public Health and Visiting Nurses Association for Connecticut State. Mrs. Pusey was of the Catholic faith.

She married Henry Carroll Pusey on November 24, 1973, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Robert Houston White (Cheryl) of Medford, Massachusetts, Bruce Edward White of Highlands, New Jersey, Jay Michael White (Norma) of Linden, Virginia; four step-daughters, Cheryle Grier (Lamar) of Four Oaks, North Carolina, Pamela Lee Pusey and Diane Ball (Ed) both of Manassas, Virginia, Sandra Carol Encinias (Jeff) of Ashburn, Virginia; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and one brother, Martin William Cummings of Madison, Connecticut.

One brother, John Joseph Cummings, one sister, June Florence Gibney, and one infant sister, Kathleen Cummings, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel on Tuesday, at 10 AM, with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

My name is Sheila Greene. I am the youngest daughter of Randy Hobbs. I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to you & your family. My father shared many stories of his visits with you both. I know how fond he was of Mrs Pusey even without saying it & how much he cares for the both of you. My prayers will continue for you & your family.

I let so much time slip by only to find this out much too late. Sallie was like a Mother to me and a dear family friend. She had the best stories and such a great sense of humor. I regret not staying in touch with her more. There was always a comfort in knowing that she was out there to reach out to. I'll see you on the other side Sallie. Meanwhile keep sharing the laughs with Mom and Dad and watching over us all. And my sincere condolences to Henry and the whole family for their loss...
