Ruth Virginia Bauer McBride

Ruth Virginia McBride, age 75, of Middletown, Virginia, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. McBride was born in 1936, in Romney, West Virginia, the daughter of the late John and Virginia Bauer. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship where she was a member of the church ladies group. Ruth was an avid reader.

Her husband, Roger Leroy McBride, preceded her in death on July 6, 1996.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Lydia Marshall and husband, Billy, of Middletown, Virginia; three sons, Mark W. McBride and wife, Deborah, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Paul L. McBride and wife, Donna, of Gainesboro, Virginia, and Philip L. Mc Bride and wife, Sherry, of Winchester, Virginia; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Brown, of Augusta, West Virginia; a brother, Douglas Bauer, of Augusta, West Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews. One brother, John Bauer, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 2:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Roy Riley officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. A reception will follow the service at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Bradley McBride, Matthew Hoenig, Max Leight, Harry Clayton, Robert Smoot and Jacob Marshall.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Ruth and I shared so many good times together. As friends for over 50 years there was so many things we did together, bottle hunting, cooking, baby sitting, shopping, lunch dates, hair appointments, trip to Florida, just to name a few. She was a true friend and I will miss her greatly.

...for Ruth's Family, .....we fondly remember Ruth thru' Romney High School......she was quite an athlete!! Also, I remember being invited to her 11th or 12th birthday party...we got there and her Mother didn't know anything about a party...but her Mom got some refreshments together and we had a good time!! My husband recalls Ruth and her mother coming to his farm and visiting his parents, Foss and Dot Parker... Dot thought it was so nice that Roger had someone to play with.....but he didn't much like the idea of playing with a GIRL! It's so sad that we only hear of our friends of long ago thru- the obits...but we wanted to tell Ruth's family that we remember Ruth and we will be thinking of you.....God Bless Roger and JoAnn(Freeland) Parker
