Lula Ruth Benner Payne, 88, of Stephenson, Virginia, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Payne was born in 1924, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late John B. and Ada Belle Benner. She was part Owner of Payne Well Drilling. Mrs. Payne attended Frederick County Schools.

She married Oliver Lynwood Payne on December 15, 1952, in Hagerstown Maryland. He preceded her in death in August, 2012.

Surviving is her daughter, Sharon D. Payne; sons, Michael Payne and wife, Becky, Gary Payne and wife, Pamela, all of Frederick County, Virginia; grandchildren, Timothy Miller who they raised as a son, Brian Payne and wife, Terri, Eric Payne and wife, Wendy, Debbie Gioiose, Shelia Kelly, Jack Robinson, Jr., Adam Payne and wife, Melissa, Sarah Payne Pingley and husband, Brian, Rachael Payne and Hannah Payne; six great grandchildren, Payton, Aden Tyler, Macey, Ella and Ethan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Yun Kim officiating. Interment will be private.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Miller, Brian Payne, Eric Payne, Adam Payne, Tyler Payne and Brian Pingley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brucetown United Methodist Church, 2161 Brucetown Road, Clearbrook, Virginia, 22624.
