Ruth Marian Patton, 94, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Winchester, Virginia. She was born in Scarbro, West Virginia, in 1921, to the late Michael Cleveland and Virginia “Virgie” Myrtle Fitzpatrick.
Growing up in a coal mining area with 7 siblings, Marian was a strong and smart woman. She worked for C&P Telephone Company, eventually Verizon, for many years. She retired as an administrative assistant.
She was married to Charles Edwin Patton who preceded her in death.
Marian loved her Lord, her church and people. She enjoyed the Bible study class every week at Opequon Presbyterian Church where she was a member.
Marian is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Carole and Susan Martin, both of Winchester; 7 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Ann Sisson, 3 grandchildren, 6 sisters and 1 brother.
A memorial service will be held at Opequon Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm with refreshments to follow. Her interment will be next to her beloved husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia, at a later date.
