Ruby M. Broadt
Ruby Marie Williams Broadt, 89, of Boonsboro, Maryland, formerly of Stephens City, Virginia, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 in Boonsboro.
Mrs. Broadt was born in 1925 in Chesterfield County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Bess H. Williams. She was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School in Chester, VA, Class of 1944. She was employed by the Department of the Army for 32 years, and at the U.S. Postal Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in communications for the Post Master General, retiring after 8 years of service. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Stephens City, VA, and a former member of the Church of Christ in Colonial Heights, VA.; Women of the Moose Lodge #2483 in Stephens City and #1315 in Arlington, VA; the American Legion Post #77 in Strasburg, VA and VFW Post #7327 in Springfield, VA and Post #2123 in Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Dance, in 1976, and her second husband, Conrad Eugene Broadt, in 1994 and a long time special companion Robert Lee Eldreth.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Elizabeth Belcher and husband, Al, of Smithsburg, MD and Shirley Diane Campbell and husband, Harold, of Front Royal, VA; a son, Joseph E. Dance, Jr. of Melbourne, FL; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Broadt was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian B. Coley and two brothers, Charles C. Williams, Jr. and Julian “Doo” Williams.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday with Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Stephens City, VA. A celebration of her life will follow at the Stephens City Moose Lodge.
