Roy Lee Patterson
Roy Lee Patterson, age 56, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Patterson was born in 1953, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Lynn Austin and Bessie T. Patterson. He was a graduate of James Wood High School and continued his education at Western New England College, Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He served during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars having served as a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force from February 1973 until his retirement in September 1995. He received numerous medals and awards throughout his 23 years of service for his country. In addition, he served the community as Commander of the Civil Air Patrol, Phoenix Squadron in Front Royal, Virginia.
Roy married Bonnie L. Beatty on December 8, 1973, in Stephens City, Virginia.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Nicklaus S. Patterson and wife, Bethany of Star Tannery, Virginia, and Matthew R. Patterson and wife, Allison, of Miami, Florida; two grandchildren, Hailey M. and Mason S. Patterson, both of Star Tannery, Virginia; and a sister, Janet Malone of Martinsburg, West Virginia. A brother, Douglas Patterson, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Reverend Jason B. Duley officiating. Interment will be in Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert “Bobby” Beatty, Dennis Manuel Sr., Michael Beatty, Dennis Manuel Jr., Dallas Nichols, and Melvin McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at Macedonia United Methodist Church.
