Roy Lee Beatley

Roy Lee Beatley, 76, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, in his home.

Mr. Beatley was born in 1934, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Thomas William Beatley and the late Sylvester and Margaret Ruth Corbin. He was a retired Restaurant Manager with Allen Properties serving for over 40 years. Mr. Beatley was of the Methodist Faith. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army from 1950-1953.

He married the former Hazel Margaret McDonald.

Surviving with his wife of 38 years are their three children, E. Renea Rannells and husband, Gary, of Frederick County, Erik L. Beatley and wife, Jennifer, Lillie N. Parrish and husband, Michael all of Winchester; two loving granddaughters, Madison Alexandra Rannells and Sera Grace Rannells both of Frederick County, and his beloved miniature poodle, Rusty; two children from a previous marriage, Ingrid L. Greathouse and Thomas W. Beatley both of Winchester, five sisters, Betty Armel, Darlene Whitlock both of Frederick County, Helen Jones of Suffolk, Virginia, Linda Corbin of Brigantine, New Jersey and Patricia Catlett of Winchester, three brothers, Robert Corbin, Russell Corbin and Henry Corbin all of Frederick County.

Two sisters, Mary Morris and Claudia Henry and two brothers, James Beatley and Charles Corbin preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Richard Riefsnyder officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, with military honors accorded by VFW Post #2123.

Pallbearers will be Melvin McDonald, Marshall McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Charles R. Corbin, Benjamin Ritenour and Robert Golightly.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, 161 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, Virginia 22603.

Uncle Roy was a good man. I remember when I was little and he had the place in Waterloo. Mom waited tables and dad pumped gas there. We used to stay upstairs at night and we would watch dad and Uncle Roy thru the window waiting on customers. Only to get up and see that big smile of Roys wishing you a good morning. God Speed Roy... What I remember about Roy Beatley. I remember working for him at waterloo Truck stop when i was a young boy he was one of the best bosses I ever worked for.I remember going up to shawnee land cutting up trees for Roy and Hazel. He was just an all around good person he would go out of his way to help people. He will forever be in our thoughts. Are prayers are with your family. Kenny and Barbara McDonald
