Rose Anne Mucha–Lizola Rocha, 96, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, at her home in High View, Hampshire County, West Virginia, surrounded by her loving family and fortified by the Sacred Rites of the Church.

Born May 21, 1930, in Noranda, Quebec, Rose was the daughter of the late Daria-Peterocha and Vasily Mucha. In her youth she worked as a long-distance telephone operator in her hometown.
On May 19, 1956, she married Eduardo Raphael Lizola Rocha, who predeceased her on October 31, 1990. Together they raised four children, to whom Rose devoted herself as mother and homemaker. As the children grew, she lent her considerable talents to various administrative positions, though her true vocation was rooted in home and family.

A convert to the Catholic Faith, Rose was received into the Church at St. Brigid’s Parish, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She loved “Our Blessed Mother” (as she always called her) and prayed the Rosary daily.

Rose shared generously of her craft work and artistic gifts throughout her life, above all as a china painter. The delicate pieces she created by hand remain treasured in many homes—as, indeed, does the memory of the hands that made them.

She is survived by her children, Richard Rocha (Valerie), Katherine Sbarbaro (Paul), Michael Rocha, and Peter Rocha; her grandsons Matthew (Kate), Daniel (Morgan), Joseph (Amy), Conrad, John Paul (Theresa), and Patrick Rocha; and her great-grandchildren Caeli, Harrison, Mia, Dawson, Zoey, Zelie, Evan, Brianna, Cecily Jane, Joshua, and Clara. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eduardo; and by her parents, Daria and Vasily Mucha, and her sister Helen (Ralph Marion).

In her later years, Rose made her home with her son Richard and his family in West Virginia where she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout the years.

A Requiem Mass in Latin will be celebrated by Father Lundberg at Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy Multi-Purpose Room, Winchester, Virginia, on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Pine Hills Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, where Rose will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Eduardo, reunited at last.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers for the repose of Rose’s soul, and donations in her memory to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Winchester, Virginia.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
