Ronald David “Skipper” Bishop, 70, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Thursday, June 11, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Bishop was born in 1944, in Princeton, West Virginia, the son of the late William H. and Irene M. Bishop. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1962. Mr. Bishop was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
Mr. Bishop was a self-employed carpenter working in residential and commercial building. He was a member of Faith Revival Church in Albin, Virginia, and a member of the Eagles.
He married Elaine Houpt on October 20, 1981, in Marshall, Virginia.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his first wife, Sandra Wrenn Peters.
Surviving with his wife are his sons, David Arnold Bishop and wife, Sherry, of Glen Allen, Virginia, James Dwayne Bishop and wife, Valerie, of Great Falls, Virginia; grandchildren, Heather Bishop of Germany, Brittany Zarate and husband, Humberto, of Ashburn, Virginia, Ashlee Bishop of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Dustin Good of Bristow, Virginia, Brandon Bishop and Jade Bishop, both of Great Falls, Virginia; sister, Elsie Shrewsbury of Nokesville, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Terry Shrewsbury, Sandy Crawford (Ron), Tom Shrewsbury (Kim), Robin Kane (John); great nieces and nephews, Travis Shrewsbury, Crystal Bentz (Grant) and Tracy Osborne (Phillip).
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2015, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Faith Revival Church, 325 Bryarly Road, Winchester, Virginia, 22603.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, at Faith Revival Church with Reverend Gary Palmer officiating.
