Roger Hugh Sheriff, 79, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away peacefully Monday, December 25, 2017, at his home surrounded by family members.
Mr. Sheriff was born in 1938, in Washington, DC, the son of the late Catherine E. and Roger E. Sheriff. Roger graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He worked at Potomac Electric Power Company for 32 years, first as a power lineman and then as a supervisor, enjoying his work very much. Years after retirement, a favorite activity was his once-a-month breakfast with friends who were former PEPCO co-workers.
He married Betty E. Adamson in 1978, in Brunswick, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife of 40 years are his daughters, Sondra Sheriff of Myersville Maryland, Marlene Taulton (Tim) of Knoxville, Maryland, Tina Knapp (Bill) of Winchester, Virginia; son, Sam Stephens (Stefanie) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Rebecca Darr, Katie Darr, David Taulton, Michelle Taulton, Molly Minch (Ryan), Tessa Knapp, Adam Knapp, Nicholas Shelley, Diana Tankayan, Shawn Sheriff, Melissa White (Shawn), and Roger Sheriff (Jasmine), as well as several great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Hugh Michael Sheriff.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Patrick officiating. Interment will be private.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Stephens, Tim Taulton, David Taulton, Bill Knapp, Nicholas Shelley, and Ryan Minch.
