Rodney “Tut” Harding Eaton, Jr.
Rodney ”Tut” Harding Eaton, Jr. 61, of Paw Paw, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Eaton was born in 1949, in Paw Paw, West Virginia, the son of Effie Virginia Eaton of Paw Paw, and the late Rodney Harding Eaton, Sr. Mr. Eaton was a truck driver with Perry Engineering for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Paw Paw, West Virignia. Mr. Eaton was a graduate of Paw Paw High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Viet Nam from 1968-1969 achieving the rank of E-5. Mr. Eaton was involved in the Tet Offensive with the 7th Air Calvary in Vietnam and returned to the United States where he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Ranger Unit at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a Purple Heart Recipient.
Surviving is his mother Effie V. Eaton of Paw Paw, West Virginia; his daughter, Casey Dawn Neighbors of Kirby, West Virginia; son, James Marshall Eaton of Paw Paw, West Virginia; granddaughter, Alicia Marie Neighbors; three sisters, Saundra Downs-Wright of Townesend, Virginia, Carol Ann Puffenberger of Slanesville, West Virginia, Barbara Jean Wescoat of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother, Robert Edwin Eaton, Sr. of Romney, West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Woodrow Union Cemetery, Woodrow, West Virginia with Military Honors accorded by American Legion of Paw Paw.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wescoat, Robert Eaton, Jr. Christopher Puffenberger, Richard Smith, Matthew Rhinehart, Dane Meade, Jr., Michael Puffenberger and Dane Meade, Sr.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00-5:00 PM and Tuesday prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
