Robin Ashby “Pops” Chittenden, 63, of Clarke County, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at his home, doing what he loved.

Robin was born in 1956 in England, son of the late Richard and Annabelle Chittenden. He was a Project/Construction Manager in McLean, Virginia. Robin loved working with his hands and was a top-of-the-line “grill meister”. He enjoyed target shooting, being with his family, and raising his grandchildren. Robin was a member of Hope Valley Church in Winchester.

He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Finnegan on April 16, 1977 in Fairfax, Virginia. They had an inseparable love and friendship in their dream log home.

Surviving with his wife of 43 years are sons, Matthew Robin Chittenden (Shannon) of Winchester, Virginia, Samuel Michael Chittenden (Michelle) of Winchester, Virginia, Erik Richard Chittenden (Kelli) of Bluemont, Virginia; grandchildren, Joseph Michael Chittenden, Tyler Robin Chittenden, Mariah Grace Chittenden, Derek “D” Ryan Chittenden, Daniel Edward Chittenden, Makayla Joy Chittenden, Caleb Isaiah Chittenden, Alexis Mackenzie Chittenden, Ethan Samuel Chittenden, Jillian Marie Chittenden; and sisters, Rowena Therese Phillips of Woodbridge, Virginia and Persis Ellen Louise Chittenden of Dumfries, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 am on Saturday, March 14^th, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Samuel Rogers officiating.

I want to thank everyone for their love and support. It has been a hard few months but knowing my guy is home in heaven is a comfort but my heart aches that he isn't here. Hey you ;) I'm so blessed that our paths in life crossed. I've said since the day I met you how lucky your boys were to have a father like you. There's a piece of you in each of them. The love you showed your wife was a shining example to the men they have become. I'm so saddened that your time was cut short but there is great solace in the powerful legacy you leave behind. You are loved by so many!

Robin was a very special and outstanding person and was always there when he was needed on the job to solve a problem. We became best of friends over the many years we worked together. My condolences go out to the entire family and he will truly be missed by all. May he rest in peace.

My most sincere sympathies for your loss. I am in shock. I worked with Robin for years on many projects. He was a treasured colleague and I considered him a friend. His smile could light up the room. He was the most fair and honorable man I’ve ever worked with. I loved how his eyes would sparkle when he talked about his wife and children. This is a great loss for many. I remember the Uno games Ruth and I, Robin and Beth, and the boys played for hours around their kitchen table when they lived here in Sterling. We had a lot of fun together. Dad,you were my biggest hero. I will forever miss you as you were the best dad a son could have asked for. You taught me so much and I will forever cherish the wonderful times that we shared working together, laughing together, and being a family together.
