Robert W. Keckley
Robert W. “Bob” Keckley, 86, of Winchester, VA passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Keckley was born in 1928 in Frederick County, VA, the eldest son of Robert and Melba Keckley. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the 11th Pacific Air Assault Paratroopers. He worked at the Royal Crown Bottling Co. in Winchester until his retirement, and was an avid stock car driver and owner.
His faithful wife, Ruby Barham Keckley, whom he married on October 27, 1945 in Frederick, MD, passed away in 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda F. Keckley of Stephens City, VA, who gave him three granddaughters, Lisa Pennington (Darin) Hockman , Cynthia Pennington-Bonar (great grandson, Brayden) and Melissa Timbrook (David) Derosier (great granddaughter, Madison), and Susan (Col. John Craig, US Army, Ret.) Craig, who gave him two grandsons, Robert (Maria) Rodeffer, II (great grandson, Dylan Rodeffer and great granddaughter, Sophia Rodeffer) and Mark Rodeffer (great grandson, Logan and great granddaughter, Haley) all of Winchester, VA. He also leaves behind many sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as friends from all over.
Mr. Keckley was preceded in death by his younger brother, Charles “Bud” Keckley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. The family would like to invite every to a luncheon following the service at Calvary Church of the Brethren.
