Ralph Edward “Warbucks” Arnold, age 70, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at approximately 4:07 am on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at the Winchester Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Mr. Arnold was born on December 17, 1936, in Fitzpatrick, West Virginia. He was a retired Master Mechanic. Mr. Arnold was an Operations Manager for Leo J. Umberly, General Manager of McDade Rigging and Steel Erection; former President of Cargo Transport, and former President of Hastings Brick Company. He was the manager and shop foreman of C.L.
Whitside, and former board member of International Pentecostal Church of Christ. He was a member of Winchester Church of God, Frederick County, Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Anne Arnold, whom he married on March 5, 1955, in Essex, Maryland; his children and family, Daniel Arnold, Sr., and wife, Dorothy of Pasadena, Maryland, Richard Arnold and Rosa Parada of Dundulk, Maryland, and Pamela Arnold Carlton and husband Todd of Gore, Virginia.
He has eight grandchildren, Daniel Arnold, Jr., and wife Alex of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Lauren Arnold Butler and husband Mike of Madison, Virginia, Dillon Arnold of Glen Burnie, Caroline and Olivia Carlton of Gore, Virginia, Laura Parada of Dundulk, Maryland, and his grand-dogs, Gracie and Lily Rose of Gore, Virginia; two great grandchildren, Michael “Scooty” and Stacy Butler of Madison, Virginia; sister, Elizabeth Bradford of Millersville, Maryland; and an aunt and uncle, Mary and Mitchell Green of Bakersfield, California.
One grandchild, Amanda Kay Arnold, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, with Pastor Darrell Waller officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Arnold, Sr., Richard Arnold, Todd Carlton, Carl Berry, Daniel Arnold, Jr., Dillon Arnold, and Bart Donavan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
