Robert Stuart Ashley

Robert “Bob” Stuart Ashley, 77, of Frederick County, VA, died Friday, October 24, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Mr. Ashley was born in 1937 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the son of the late Philmore and Bessie Lewis Ashley.  He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.  Stu and/or Bob, as many called him, had been employed in construction as a carpenter. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 21, VFW Post #2123, and Winchester Eagles #824.

Mr. Ashley married Carol A. Lipscomb on April 5, 1958.

Surviving with his wife are sons, Randy P. Ashley (Lori), Front Royal, VA, Roger Lee Ashley, Winchester, VA; sisters, Shirley A. Guess, Richmond, VA, Barbara C. (Price) Walker, Prince George, VA, Carrie M. Welsh, Lynchburg, VA, Wanda J. Miller, Suffolk, VA, Agnes A. Dobrowolski, Lynchburg, VA; brother, Darrel R. Ashley, Winchester, VA, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by sons, Robert S. Ashley, Jr. and Ralph S. Ashley; brothers, Henry P. Ashley and Charles H. Ashley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Bobby Stepp officiating.  Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
