Robert Stephen “Steve” Dubuque, Jr.

Robert Stephen “Steve” Dubuque, Jr., of Stephens City, Virginia, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, in Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Steve was born in 1964, in Washington D.C., the son of Robert S. Dubuque, Sr. and the late Shirley Dubuque. He lived in the Maryland and Northern Virginia area for most of his adult life. Steve was a Volunteer EMT at Burtonsville, Maryland, Fire Department. He was a graduate of Friendly High School, Class of 1982 and attended Lord Fairfax Community College for Nursing until his health failed. Steve moved to Winchester in 2003 and lived in Rose Memorial Foundation for the last five years, until he returned to Northern Virginia last July.

Surviving with his father of Stephens City, Virginia, is his step-mother, Betty Dubuque, his sister, Sherry Dubuque of Stafford, Virginia; his 99 year old grandmother, Clara Toms of Bedford, Virginia; step-sister, Delores Fry and her husband, Bruce, of Winchester, Virginia; two step-brothers, Barry Bayne and his wife, Rhonda, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Larry Bayne and his wife, Ann, of Spotsylvania, Virginia; a beloved niece, Amanda Bourbeau of Stafford, Virginia; several aunts and uncles and his God-Father, Charles Bennsky of Winchester, Virginia.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 26, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Troy Heart officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, for one hour.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York, 10016.

I only knew Steve is a child. He was an old soul...wise beyond his years. He was dear to all who knew him. I have only sweet memories of him. Heaven is blessed to have you

I met Steve thru the dentist office where I worked a few years ago. He was preparing for a kidney transplant and not once did his positive attitude waiver. Every time I saw him he was kind, happy, and never complained about the health issues he was facing. He made an impression on me to always look to the positive things in life and help others no matter your own situation. My deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers go out to his family. Meg Nealis

Steve, during those last days in the hospital we were unable to tell if you understood what we were trying to convey before your final passing, however, we want you to know that we dearly love you and will never forget you and the many wonderful times we had together over the 45 years we spent with you on earth. You know that it isn't necessary to tell you this love because we openly told one anaother over and over again duiring those last years together. We, also, know that your passing will be a major milestone when you join up with your mother in heaven and we are so happy that you will never have to experience pain again as you did off and on so many times during those 45 years on earth. Hi Steve, This is your Aunt Theresa. You have been such a great guy. An attitude about life , always smilling and happy. I never saw you any other way. You Dad and Betty are very proud of you . I love you very much . Now you are with Uncle Leon. He must be teaching you how to fish and play cribbage. You are out of pain and enjoying yourself with your Mom. Steve, I am glad that the lord took away your pain...........but thanks for worrying about me when I was sick in May. I will always be a reference for you even for a job in heaven. I will never forget the first time I met you at Sta 15 when my 59 transfered there. Then we worked about 8 years together at Suburban. Take care and I will see ya in heaven one day. Nadine
