Robert Milton McFarland, 82, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 19, 2026.
Born on August 24, 1943, in Winchester, Virginia, he was the son of the late Silas Walter McFarland and Madge Burkholder McFarland (Kline).
Robert was a lifelong fixture in the Millwood community, dedicating his career to McFarland’s Mill, where he began working as a child. Through hard work and determination, he became the owner in 1977 in partnership with his brother, Tommy and remained committed to the business until his retirement. His work ethic and dedication left a lasting mark on both his industry and community.
He was a faithful member of Winchester Church of God and lived his life grounded in strong values and devotion to his family and faith.
Robert proudly served his country as a medic in the West Virginia Air National Guard for seven years. Beyond his service, he was an active member of the Yellow Spring Hunt Club and was known for his love of hunting, fishing, and racing. He found joy in the outdoors and in the company of friends and family.
On December 17, 1966, he married the love of his life, Donna Agnes McFarland (Strosnider), who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stephanie See (Jeff), Stacie Madagan (Phil), and Robert “Mark” McFarland (Kitty). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Lauren, Nicholas, Phil, Ryan, Evan, Graham, Parker, and Silas and nine great-grandchildren; Landen, Camden, MaKaylee, Myiah, Melody, Deion, Gabrielle, Reece, and Julia.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Tommy” McFarland.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Winchester Church of God, officiated by Pastor Kent Woodward and Pastor Scott Orndorff. Interment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, and again on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Winchester Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winchester Church of God.
Robert will be remembered for his steadfast dedication, his love of family, and the legacy he built through a lifetime of hard work and service.
