Robert Lee “Bob” Eldreth
Robert Lee “Bob” Eldreth, 74, of Stephens City, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Eldreth was born in 1936 in Oxford, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Paul Jones Eldreth and Josephine Janney and grandson of the late Hattie Warden. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Northern Virginia, as a mail carrier and later became a supervisor, retiring in 1996 with 35 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 2123, Stephens City Moose Lodge #2483, and Strasburg American Legion Post. Mr. Eldreth was a veteran, having served in the United State Army as a Specialist during the Korean War.
He is survived by his special companion of 18 years, Ruby Marie Broadt; four children, Suzanne “Zan” Montoney and her husband, Randy of Winchester, Robert Lee Eldreth, Jr. and Kathaleen Hope Eldreth, both of Stephens City, and Kristin Heather Sherfey and her husband, Robert of Harrisonburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren, J. Daniel Tinsman, Jaimi Lineberg, Shane Duvall, Lauren Sherfey, Heather Sherfey, Casey Gardner, Kricket Eldreth, Samuel Leisch, and Carter Grey Sherfey; and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Elijah. A sister, Janet Janney, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Jason Duley officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Tomlinson, Robert Whipkey, Steve Funkhouser, Roger Husband, Russell Lineberg, and Al Belcher. Honorary Pallbearer will be Steve Via.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
