Robert J. “Bob” Edwards

Robert Junior “Bob” Edwards, 87 of Stephens City, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Edwards was born in 1923 in Grafton, West Virginia, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. He was employed with B & O Railroad for 15 years; a Life Insurance Agent with Peoples Life, serving for 20 years, then retiring from the CIA-Security after 9 years of service. Mr. Edwards was a Veteran of the United States Army, European Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Army Reserves for over 20 years and a member of the VFW in Grafton, West Virginia.

He married Anna Jean Decker on November 18, 1946 in Oakland, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Barry W. Edwards of Stephens City, Virginia, Mike Edwards and his wife, Norma, of Accokeek, Maryland; three grandchildren, Timothy Edwards, Benjamin Edwards, and Haley Edwards.

He is preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Mr. Edwards was the last remaining member of his family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 5, 2010, in West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, West Virginia.
