At sundown, on Wednesday January 27, 2021, Robert Gale Titchenell, 64, of Winchester Virginia, previously of Culpeper, died after waging a valiant fight for his precious life against COVID-19.
Bob was born in Philadelphia, on March 18, 1956 to the late B. Gale and Blondina Moran Titchenell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie F. Titchenell, and his nephew, Kevin Titchenell.
This brilliant, kind, and wise man will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind: his wife and sweetheart, Anne Palmer, and her children Hannah, Emily, and Michael; his sister, L. Sue Titchenell; brother, Michael D. Titchenell, and wife Sandra J. Titchenell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Nor can we forget to mention Bob’s dog Murphy, and his cats Shelby and Tiger Lily.
After graduating from Salem College, West Virginia, Bob lived in Culpeper for many years. While in Culpeper, he worked at Rental Uniform. Bob later graduated from Strayer University, VA, majoring in software development. He worked in Charlottesville as a software quality-assurance specialist for Video Gaming Technologies, and later in Richmond, for United Organ Sharing. In 2014 he moved to Winchester, to be with his new bride Anne, and fulfilled his life-long dream of opening a bookstore – Time Machine books.
Time Machine Books was a gem of a local business, drawing literary aficionados from all around, who traveled to peruse and discuss Bob’s extraordinary collection of science-fiction, fantasy, and historical volumes. The store was also loved for its magical children’s corner, where youngsters could travel to different worlds through the special selections handpicked to nurture imagination.
This Eagle Scout was a lover of sports, the Blue Ridge Mountains and music of all genres. He loved the science fiction classics, Dune, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Other enjoyments were the Time Machine Book Club and Myrtle Beach; and Bob delighted in finding inns tucked away in Virginia beauty spots.
The family offers their heart-felt thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff on the Critical Care Unit at Winchester Medical Center. Their kindness and dedication to battling alongside Bob against COVID-19 will never be forgotten.
There will be a virtual service for Bob on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 1:00 PM ET. Those who wish to join should contact the event organizer at: https://forms.gle/FUzV1dPyGcW6C4Fo9.
