Robert E. Swartz
Robert “Bob” Eugene Swartz, 78, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, September 22, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Swartz was born in 1935, in Brucetown, Virginia, the son of the late William A. Swartz and Gladys Swartz Willis. He was known as the “rubber stamp man” due to his trade as a printer. He owned and operated the Rubber Stamp Company for over 30 years. Previously he worked for several printing companies that included the Winchester Star (1955), Harris Intertype Company, Charlestown Race Track Printing, finally retiring from Impressions Plus in Winchester, Virginia. Most recently he was employed as a mail carrier for Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Swartz was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Winchester. During his life he assisted in forming a church, served as a deacon, supported missionaries, and hosted various ministry college students in his home. Bob was always ready and willing to help anyone, anytime. He was a loving husband, dad, granddad, and great-granddad as well as a devoted son, brother and uncle. He loved and enjoyed his immediate and extended family and friends.
Mr. Swartz was one of the first members of the Slo-Motions Auto Club. He enjoyed car and toy shows, collecting hot wheels, matchbox cars, and die cast cars.
He married the love of his life, Norma Hott, on October 7, 1959, in Romney, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Angela N. Swartz; son, Mitchell R.T. Swartz, Sr. both of Winchester, Virginia; grandson, Mitchell R.T. Swartz, Jr.; great grandson, Brendan Mitchell Alexander Coffey; brothers, William A. Swartz and wife, Mary Ellen, of Stephens City, James F. Swartz and wife, Loretta, of Winchester, and Richard A. Swartz and wife, Bonnie, of Stephenson, and special family friend Virginia Lamp.
One brother, Donald E. Swartz, his step-father, Gilbert Willis and special family friend, Clarence Lamp, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 7:00-9:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor David Martin officiating, assisted by Reverend Edward Schraff and Reverend Noel Vold. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Angie Swartz, Shelley Gardner, Mitchell R.T. Swartz Jr, Chuck Swartz, Ben Swartz, and Roger Puffinburger.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Whitacre, William Berg, Everett Riffee, Harry Hott, Buddy Hott, Henry Wood and Seth Nordgren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Lighthouse Baptist Academy located at 2581 Northwestern Pike, Winchester, VA 22603.
Bob and Norma chose Proverbs 3:5&6 as their lifetime verse which they taught to their children and grandson. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.
