Robert E. Shomo
Robert “Bob” Earl Shomo, 83, of Frederick County, Virginia, died, Monday, September 24, 2012, in Spring Arbor of Winchester.
Mr. Shomo was born in 1929, in Parsons, West Virginia, the son of the late Frank and Sylvia Shomo. He was a Veteran serving in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Mr. Shomo was employed by C & P Telephone Company of Virginia, retiring after 32 years.
Mr. Shomo built his home in Great Falls, Virginia, where he lived for 30 years. After retirement he moved to Inwood, West Virignia. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and PASS Learning program. Mr. Shomo loved to sing, and participated in his church choir, Apple Capital Chorus and Barbershop Chorus.
He married Phyllis Horton on June 6, 1954.
Surviving with his wife is a son, R. Michael Shomo of Greenwood Village, Colorado; three grandchildren; and sisters, Virginia S. Saunders of Winchester, Eleanor S. Wolfe of Fairfax, Mary S. Talbott of Locust Grove, and Nancy S. Fullerton of Melbourne, Florida.
One daughter, Jamie A. Shomo and one sister, Doris S. Whittall, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 11:00 AM until Service time at 12:00 PM at the church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Reverend Jason Duley officiating.
