Mr. Williams was born in 1953 in Edgefield, South Carolina, to the late Hercules and Mary Ella Williams. He attended W.E. Parker High School in SC.
He joined the military in 1973, and was a veteran of the United States Army, having achieved the rank of E4. While in the service, he was the drummer of a band, when he met, and later married Angelika B. Kollwitz, a nurse, on October 21, 1977 in Kuenzell, Germany.
After returning to the United States he was a truck driver for EnviroSolutions in Manassas, Virginia for the past 15 years. Mr. Williams enjoyed fishing, billiards, golf, and working on cars; he had completed automotive courses at Lincoln Technical Institute. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and listening to music, especially smooth jazz. Mr. Williams was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, and their daughter, Dr. Mascha L. Williams; siblings John A. Simmons and wife Susan, Eddie Ree Williams and wife Marie, Helen Bush and husband Carnell, Howard Williams, Heyward Williams, Joseph L. Williams, Patricia Diane Williams, Carolyn Williams and husband Jerome, Gregory Williams and wife Yvonne, Grace Cooper and husband Anthony, Jerry Williams and wife Audrey; seventeen nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mr. Williams’ German family are Gabriela C. Nickolaus and husband Ali, Ursula D. Kollwitz, Barbara C. Sippel and husband Bernd, Bettina I. Wright, as well as ten nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Timothy L. Grum, Funeral Celebrant. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
