Richard W. “Dickie” Stotler, 76 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on May 26, 1948 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late, Richard and Mary Stotler and was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1967, where he was in the band as well as being a former band president. Dickie was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and worked as a commercial tire salesman for several local area tire companies retiring from McCarthy Tire in 2013. He was a member of the Winchester/Frederick Co Conservation Club and a former member of Rouss Fire Co where he was also part of the Rouss Drum and Bugle Corp.
Dickie enjoyed drawing, history and listening to music and would always turn the volume up when his favorite band Alabama was playing. He had a special way of making people laugh with his “goofy faces” and his “one liners” and he was an avid sports fan always rooting for his two favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. Nashville Tennessee and Disney World in Orlando were two of his favorite places to visit and while he loved all the Disney characters, Goofy was by far his favorite.
He is survived by his wife, Linda whom he married on July 14, 1979; children, Kathryn Stotler and Melissa Williams (Marty) of Winchester, VA, Jake Strosnider (Robin), Stephanie Ryder (Kenny), and Sarah Watkins (James) all of Stephens City, VA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Baylis (Gary) of Winchester, VA and Sandra Stotler of North Charleston, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
