Richard “Big Teddy” McFarland, 75, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. McFarland was born in 1942 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late George and Ruth McFarland. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. Mr. McFarland was an electrician and retired from Federal Mogul. His greatest joy and passion was his family…the most wonderful family man there was. Mr. McFarland attended Winchester Church of God church.
His wife, Iva Jean McFarland, whom he married in Winchester, Virginia, preceded him in death in 2012.
Surviving are daughters, Debra Leddy (Michael) of Winchester, Virginia and Tammy Sheets of Strasburg, Virginia; son, Richard C. McFarland, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Wayne, Jeremy, Paul, Brian, Stephanie, and Tiffany; great grandchildren, Chandler, Savannah, Brianna, Ryan, Tyler, Mason, and Dylan; sister, Jean Mason (Harry) of Williamsburg, Virginia; and brother, Steve McFarland (Anne) of Middletown, Virginia.
Along with his parents and wife, Iva Jean, he was preceded in death by brother, Benny McFarland and great grandchild, Kenzy Nicole Guzman.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
