Richard Lee Stevens

Mr. Richard Lee Stevens, 88, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia.

Mr. Stevens was born in Beech Creek, PA, in 1923, the son of the late Raymond Leroy and Laura A. Stevens. He was a Communication Supervisor for 41 years with C & P Telephone Company where he supervised radio and television communications for public events, including inaugurations, President Kennedy’s funeral and other important events. He was a member of Kernstown United Methodist Church.

He married Dorothy Marie Stevens in May of 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Stevens preceded him in death on January 10, 2011, after 67 years of marriage.

He is survived by four daughters, Nancy Laroche and Robin Bristow, both of Virginia Beach, VA, Jane Williamson of Marietta, GA, Susan Townsend of Talmo, GA, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

According to his wishes, there will be a private memorial service in PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kernstown United Methodist Church, 3239 Valley Pike, Winchester, VA 22602 or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home – Amherst Chapel.
