Richard “Greg” McDonald

Richard Gregory McDonald, 53, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Friday, September 26, 2014, in Richmond, Virginia.

Mr. McDonald was born in 1961, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Boyd and Patricia McDonald. Greg was a graduate of James Wood High School and was employed as a Nuclear Engineer in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Greg was a member of Ebenezer Christian Church in Gore, Virginia, and a member of Wareham Judo Club in Wareham, Massachusetts. He enjoyed fishing, working on his boat, bird watching, as well as, carpentry and working with his hands.

Survived by his parents from Gainesboro, Virginia, his daughter, Orrah Elizabeth Schultz of Winchester; sons, Boyd Juston McDonald of Coal City, Illinois, James Kyle McDonald (Samantha), of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Riddick and Danica McDonald, Rhythm Schultz, Jaxson and Avri McDonald; sister, Carole A. Jenkins (Wayne), of Gainesboro, Virginia; brothers, James Harris McDonald (Cindi), of Sacramento, California, Jeffrey Dean McDonald (Dawn), of Stephens City, Virginia; his loving companion, Debbie Triplett and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

All services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Greg may be made to Ebenezer Christian Church, 2158 Ebenezer Church Road, Gore, Virginia 22637 or James Wood High School Band, 161 Apple Pie Ridge Road, Winchester, Virginia, 22603.

i am so sorry to hear of Greg's passing. What a fight he put up. So strong & still the sweet wonderful man he was. Sending prayers to all that knew him & loved him. He will be missed by all of us.. God Bless

I was very heartbroken when I heard of Greg's passing. I spent much time with him and Debbie while I was in Richmond fighting alongside Greg after my treatment. He was a strong fighter and great motivator for many of us fighting cancer with him. I wish the McDonald family and Debbie Triplett the best in the future.
