Richard Forbes Dallam, 80, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Dallam was born in 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Aeronautical Training Center and a veteran having served in the United State Air Force. Mr. Dallam was an Air Traffic Controller in Leesburg, Virginia retiring in 1992. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester. Mr. Dallam enjoyed golf, trains, airplanes, bagpipes, World War II Era history and looked forward to an annual trip with his golf buddies. Every August he enjoyed traveling to Quebec, Canada with his wife. Mr. Dallam was a loving father and husband.
Mr. Dallam’s family would like to express their appreciation to Monica’s co-workers at Amherst Family Practice for their help and understanding.
He married Maryellen Grajcar on June 1, 1963, in Pennsylvania.
Surviving with his wife of 55 years are his daughters, Monica Dallam of Winchester, Virginia and Beth Dallam (Brian Sullivan) of Jersey City, New Jersey; sister, Helen Magee of Springfield, Pennsylvania; and in-laws, Tina and Joe Arendes, of Lusby, Maryland and Michael and Roni Grajcar of Ninety Six, South Carolina, also many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 11th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 12th, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. A reception will follow the service at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
Interment will follow the reception at 2:00 PM at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia with Reverend Stephen Holmes officiating.
