Richard D. “Dickie” Allison, Sr.
Richard Daniel “Dickie” Allison, Sr., 72, of Winchester, passed away, Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Allison was born in 1937 in Middleburg, the son of the late William Calvin and Georgia Belle Allison. He retired in 1995 with American Airlines as a Crew Chief. He was a member of American Legion Post 21. Mr. Allison was a veteran, having served with the United States Army.
His wife, Kathleen Mary Weatherholtz, whom he married on November 15, 1966, in Buckeystown, Maryland, preceded him in death on May 15, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Tara Lockhart and her husband, Stewart of Winchester; three sons, Richard Allison, Jr. and his wife, Samantha of Hagerstown, Maryland, Andrew Allison and his wife, Rebecca of Longview, Texas, and Joseph Allison of Winchester; eight grandchildren, Shawn and Matthew May, Mikey, Hannah and Drew Allison, Brad, Hunter and Alivia Layman; a great granddaughter, Emily May; a sister, Margaret Leonard of Leesburg; and a brother, Bunny Leonard of Charles Town, West Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 P.M. on Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Reverend Lin Lockwood officiating. Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2123. Mr. Allison will be inurned with his wife at Shenandoah Memorial Park at a later date.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Townsend, Raymond Myers, Franklin McIntosh, Brad Layman, Mikey Allison, Shawn May, Matthew May, and Hunter Layman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
