Richard B. Stewart
Richard Brooks Stewart, 97, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, died Friday, January 28, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Stewart was born in Washington D.C. in 1913, the son of the late Howard Richard Stewart and Grace Stewart Kirby. He was the co-owner and operator of Leet-Melbrook in Silver Spring, Maryland, for over 30 years. Mr. Stewart was a Mason, a member of the Rotary, and long time resident & member of Manor Country Club. Mr. Stewart attended Central High School in Washington, D.C..
His wife, Melba McLaurin Thomas Stewart, whom he married in Elkton, Maryland, on July 22, 1936 preceded him in death in October, 2006.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbara Shober Fisher and her husband, Jack of Leesburg, Virginia; two grandsons, John Michael Shober of Golden, Colorado, David Ryan Shober of Germantown, Maryland; and one great grandson, Luke Ryan Shober. One sister, Betty Jane Chapman and one brother, Howard Robert Stewart, Sr., preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 6, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with the Reverend William Wade officiating. Interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, Maryland, at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
