Reverend George James Cunard, 79, of Winchester, Virginia, formerly of Roxborough, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 4, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center.
Rev. Cunard was born in 1941 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Earl and Julia (Levitsky) Cunard. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeast Bible College (now the University of Valley Forge) in Green Lane, Pennsylvania. He retired as a minister at The Worship Center (now called HighPointe Church) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after forty years of dedication. Rev. Cunard enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren, shopping with his wife and best friends, and traveling the world, helping build church’s on mission trips. They also enjoyed visiting Lancaster with their friends.
Rev. Cunard married Elaine Fay Good June 12, 1971 in Goshen, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2019.
Surviving is his daughter, Lisa Cunard-Engle (Benjamin) of Stephens City, Virginia; his son, Jamie A. Cunard of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Olivia T. Engle and Maci E. Engle, both of Stephens City, Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Earl Jr. Cunard, Edmund Cunard, Paul Cunard, Margaret Cunard, Judith Cunard Rutkowski, and John (Jack) Cunard.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 2 pm to 3 pm at Abundant Life Church, 700 Aylor Road in Stephens City, Virginia. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 3 pm with Pastor John Miller officiating. Interment will be private at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
