Raymond L. “Ray” Bucklew
Raymond Lee Bucklew, 77, of Stephenson, Virginia, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Bucklew was born in 1936, in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of the late Douglas E. Bucklew and Lanah Leah Bucklew-Ping. He was a millwright with General Motors, retiring in 1995. Mr. Bucklew attended West Virginia University and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Winchester. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and loved the West Virginia Mountaineers football team and all other sports.
He married Bonita Josephine Bolyard on April 9, 1955, in
Morgantown, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Peggy Lee Bucklew-Hodgson and husband, Rodney, of Middletown, Deborah JoAnn Bucklew-McKee and husband, Tim, of Winchester; son, Raymond Douglas Bucklew and Karen Poston, of Capon Springs, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Bradford Allen Hodgson of Winchester, Jennifer Lynn Hodgson-Spitzer and husband Jeremy of Bristol, Virginia, Emily Lane Bucklew of Clearbrook, Virginia; one great grandchild on the way, Madelyn Rae Spitzer; and his brother, Neil S. Bucklew and his wife, Connie, of Morgantown, West Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family as well as his loving cat Tigger.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Mike Mayton and Reverend Joseph J. Swack officiating. Interment will be private.
