“Papa Ray”
Raymond Leonard Brooks, 87 of Catlett, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Gainesville Health & Rehab.
Raymond was born in 1936 in Fauquier County, VA, the son of the late Lester Clayton Brooks and Pearl (White) Brooks. He retired as Foreman for Williams Bridge Company. He was a member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge, North Fork Resort, and Fauquier Senior Citizens Center. Raymond loved camping with the family, music (especially Elvis) and watching Westerns. He also enjoyed recording home family videos, tinkering on cars, and was an avid Warren County High School Wildcats fan.
He married Irene Rodriguez in 1980 in Manassas, VA and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2021.
Raymond is survived by his daughters, Terry Elliott (Gary), Debbie Yarbough (Dan), Gina Pickett, Christina “Tina” Perkins (George), Terri Parton and Kimberly Page; sons, Jack Pugh, Jr. (Ramona), Carl Pugh, Stephen Pugh (Kim) and Jeffrey Brooks (Christine); 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Kline and brothers, Marvin and Daniel Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Raymond is preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Snelling and Dorothy Baker and brothers, Lester, Moses, Norman, David, Kenneth and Lewis Brooks.
A visitation will be held for Raymond on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 1pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Raymond to Fauquier County Senior Center ECS, 430 E. Shirley Ave, Warrenton, VA 20186.
