Ray W. Aston, 92 of Bunker Hill, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his home.
Ray was born in 1931 in Scranton, PA, the son of the late James and Edith Aston. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army. Ray retired as Manager of Student Systems at Columbia University in New York. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church. Ray also belonged to the Korean War Veterans Association #313. He loved the New York Giants, Rangers, Mets and especially enjoyed going to see the Winchester Royals. Ray loved to read, work on computers and he was an avid bowler. He loved animals and was a major supporter of animal rescues.
He married Linda Lee Kramer on October 5, 1958, in the Bronx, NY. She preceded him in death in 2006.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Alicia Aston, son, Derek Charles Aston (Jill); grandchildren, Christine Forbes (Michael), Jeffrey Smith (Angela); great-grandchildren, Luna Forbes, Elena Forbes, and Lily Smith, his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Poulsen, nephew, Christopher (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Ray is preceded in death by his sister, Lois A. Lyon and brothers, James E. Aston, and Donald E. Aston.
A visitation will be held for Ray on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm with a service the following day, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
