Ray Harlan Bowman, 78, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Winchester Medical Center surrounded by loving family members.
Mr. Bowman was born in 1937, the son of the late Hannah V. and Thomas J. Bowman. Mr. Bowman was the previous owner of the Clear Brook Shopping Center from 1974 to 1982, as well as a former heating and air manager for HN Funkhouser until 1992. He was a member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, as well as the Elks, the Moose, the Eagles, Winchester Gun Club, and the Methodist Men’s.
Mr. Bowman married Katheryn Elizabeth Riggleman on November 13, 1956, in Winchester, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Denise Ann Fletcher, and her husband, Robby, of White Post, Virginia and Darlene Kay Hess, and her husband, David, of Winchester, Virginia; three sons, Donald Ray Bowman of Winchester, Virginia, Douglas Allen Bowman, and his wife, Barbara, of Havelock, North Carolina, and Daniel Thomas Bowman, and his wife, Lisa, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; grandchildren Kimberley Strickland, and her husband, Chad, Mary Beth Hirsch, and her husband, Rudy, Ashley Ballard, and her husband, Joseph, Matthew Bowman, and his wife, Amy, Davey Hess, Justin Bowman, Nathan Fletcher, and Brooke Fletcher; great grandchildren, Lacy Strickland, Reese Strickland, Maggie Lablance, Kaleigh Hirsh, Corbin Bowman, Andrew Strickland, with Noah Thomas Bowman due in April; and one brother, Gerald Bowman of Bowie, MD.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Greenwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be private at a later date.
