Ray E. Carper, 91, of Broadway, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. Born on March 12, 1935, in Frederick County, Virginia, Ray was the son of the late Russell Theodore Carper and Elva Louise (Shade) Carper. He spent most of his life in the Shenandoah Valley and worked in piece work at Shen-Paco Industries until his retirement.

Ray attended Harrisonburg Church of the Nazarene, where his faith in Jesus shaped and steadied his life. He loved the Lord deeply, and that love showed in the quiet, steady way he lived. Music was one of his greatest joys, especially gospel and country, and he could often be found smiling, singing along, or gently swaying to the songs he cherished. His laugh was warm and infectious, the kind that filled a room and made others smile without trying.

Ray is survived by his brother, Roy Eugene Carper of Broadway, Virginia, with whom he shared a lifelong bond marked by deep love, loyalty, and the comfort of always having one another close.

He is also lovingly remembered by his close friends Candy Keith, and Brandon and Meagan Lantz, who held a special place in his life and cared for him with kindness.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Margaret Michael. Interment will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Cross Junction, Virginia.

The pallbearers will be Brandon Lantz, Floyd Keith, Jon Lantz, Jake Lantz, Daylon Higgs and Jon Constable.
