Randy Chandler, 65, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Chandler was born in 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Maurice R. and Madeline M. Chandler. He graduated from Big Bay De Noc High School in Michigan. Randy was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, achieving the rank of SP4. He was retired having worked as an electrician for Local Union 26, based out of Washington, D.C. Randy was a Civil War buff and had a passion for military history, participating in various living history events and also competed in long rifle shooting. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Randy considered himself a “jack of all trades and master of none”. Randy was a loving and proud father of his children. His greatest passion was his family and his grandchildren. Randy was a member of Winchester Church of God. He would always tell his family to “fly with the eagles”.
Mr. Chandler married Dianna Kenney on June 30, 1985 in Front Royal, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his two daughters, Stacy Michelle Chandler of Strasburg, Virginia and Brandi Rae Blankenship (David) of Warrenton, Virginia; two sons, Jeremy “Jay” Wade Chandler of Strasburg, Virginia and Jamie Wade Chandler (Jennifer) of Winchester, Virginia; six grandchildren, Stacy’s children – Kyleigh Fiona Hepner of Strasburg, Virginia, Brandi’s children – Abigail June and Hannah Rae Blankenship of Warrenton, Virginia, Jay’s children – Cody Jacob Brill of Strasburg, Virginia, Jamie’s children – Trent Michael and Kaylyn Riley Chandler of Winchester, Virginia; sisters, Diana and Dave Turner of Dayton, Ohio, Ann Chandler Bradshaw (Terry) of Cooks, Michigan and Rachel “Ginger” Sipe of Charles Town, West Virginia; brothers, John Chandler (Renee) and Bert Chandler both of Cooks, Michigan; and step-mother, Marcelline Chandler.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Orndorff officiating. Private entombment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Chandler, Jamie Chandler, Jeff Carter, Shawn Hepner, Jason Newlin, and Brian Lamb.
