Ralph Newland Ives

Ralph N. Ives

Mr. Ralph Newland Ives, age 95, of Winchester, VA, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Westminster-Canterbury. Mr. Ives was born in 1916 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of the late Earl and Alice Maude Ives. He had been Vice President of Sales for McArdle Printing Company, retiring after thirty years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburg. Mr. Ives was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corp.

He married Gunhild Johanna Osterberg on May 3, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Susan McCollum and husband, Douglass of Purcellville, VA; Karen Marshall and husband, Richard, of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, and Nancy Boyd and husband, William of Herndon, VA; seven grandchildren: Ryan McCollum, Eric McCollum, Heidi Marshall-Sanchez, Cyrus Marshall, Gretchen Dowling, Ethan Boyd, and Corey Boyd; and six great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Westminster-Canterbury with Pastor Jim Utt officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Fund, Westminster-Canterbury, 300 Westminster-Canterbury Drive, Winchester, VA 22603 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 26 W. Boscawen St., Winchester, VA 22601.
