Ralph Kenneth “Ski” Skoronski, 81, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Skoronski was born December 8, 1942, in Kingston, PA, the son of the late Ralph T. and Phyllis J. (Smith) Skoronski. He attended Edwardsville High School and served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1960-1964. While stationed in California, Ski met Nella Grace “Dusti” Zeigler and they wed on January 17, 1964, in Reno, Nevada. After starting their family, they relocated to Winchester in 1982 for Ski’s work with Dupont. During his employment, Mr. Skoronski was credited with the UPS Brown color and retired as a Chemist after 36 years with the company. Ski enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife, Dusti, and always had a great group of close friends. He enjoyed going to car shows where he would take his canary yellow 1956 Ford Thunderbird. He loved spending time perfecting his yard and tending to his homemade fishpond. Ski was the anchor of the family, a hero who always took care of everyone. He was loved beyond measure and will be terribly missed.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Sandra Garber (Christopher “Chris”) of Gerrardstown, WV, Diana Johnson (Robert “Mark”) of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Derrick Skoronski (Rae) of Inwood, WV, Alexis “Lexi” Johnson of Greencastle, PA, James Johnson of Martinsburg, WV; great grandchildren, Tucker Skoronski and Braelyn Foltz; brother, Richard Skoronski of Kingston, PA; many nieces and nephews, close friends and cousins; companion, Barbara Engelke and his beloved dog, Sophie.
Along with his parents and wife of 46 years, Dusti, Mr. Skoronski is preceded in death by his sister, Diane Leeds, brother-in-law, David Leeds, sister-in-law, Barbara Skoronski, and nephew, Bill Skoronski.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 5-7pm with a service the following day, Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Grange Hall Cemetery.
