Rachel Christine Smelser, 82, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Evergreen Health and Rehab Center.
Rachel was born in 1935, the daughter of Samuel and Vallie V. Jenkins. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many who knew her. She was a Christian and enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, puzzles, TV westerns and loved listening to music. Her pet felines, Sam and Sugar, held a special place in her heart.
Rachel married David Simon Smelser. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Bailey; her son, Willis Miller, Jr. (Theresa); grandchildren, Tara Cross of Stephens City, Virginia, Stacie Miller and Travis Miller, both of Winchester, Virginia and Will Miller, Jr. of Alabama; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Cross, Kaitlyn Cross, Braydin Dawson, Stacia Tasker, Eric Miller, Mike Crisman, Jr., Dixie Crisman, and Gavin Miller.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Dale Miller and four brothers, Robert, Anderson, Boyd and Harland Jenkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Omps, South Chapel.
The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 PM at Omps, South Chapel with Rev. Mike Mayton officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
